The best advice I ever got: “No one is you and that is your power” Too often we fall victim to other people’s visions of our lives. We slave over dreams that aren’t our own. We get too comfortable with complacency. We obsess about being normal but what is normal besides a impossible theory made-up by a society that wishes to control us. Isn’t it far more exciting to NOT normalize your dreams? I mean, what kid ever said when I grow up I’d like to work a job I hate with a bunch of coworkers who are also dreamless and miserable! I’ll tell you. NO ONE! When we were children we were fearless, dream focused, and put all of our energy into things that only brought us happiness. I can only imagine what magical things we could do today if only we were half as brave as our childlike selves. But somewhere down the line we stopped dreaming. We loss faith in ourselves , our abilities, our power. We no longer saw ourselves as heroes saving the day but rather weak people who needed a savior. We loss our grit. But I’m here to proclaim we can take it back! Many of us, allow outside forces to stop us from really being our authentic self. For some, it’s the strict parents, jobs, schools. Then for others it’s peer pressure, social media, reality television and advertisement. We have so many things attacking us at all angles and if we aren’t firm in who we are we can really get lost. So my first piece of advice Get to know yourself Take some time to yourself daily and write. Ask yourself a series of questions. What do I like? What makes me feel good? What are my values and goals? What do I want to be when I grow up? This act of questioning will awaken a sort of curiosity about yourself which I think is healthy steps toward better self-care. Next, Practice Confidence Know that being yourself and following your dreams isn’t going to be easy. You will be met with resistance however the more you exercise your uniqueness the more it’ll become second nature. Confidence doesn’t happen overnight which is why I think it’s important to find ways to exercise it on your terms. For instance, if you want to become a professional singer I think it’s important for you to find time to sing publicly in front of large crowds. And last,
Daily reminders After getting to know yourself, your desires, and dreams. After mastering your confidence and perfecting your craft; what’s left to do then to JUST DO IT! However, that can be easier said than done which is why I think it’s important to have daily reminders of your vision.
Examples: Affirmations, vision boards, photos, and quotes Take some time to write out what you want and why! Understanding your WHY is key and in most cases the motivation that gets the job done. In my opinion, having a clear and strong reason for obtaining your dreams activates a spiritual power that propels your dream into a fruitful reality! So my hope is that someone can take these three steps and apply them to their own life to obtain their wildest dreams. And much of what I’ve shared here today are things I’ve done myself. So I’ve watched them work and I am confident if applied correctly they’ll work for you too! Also, if you like these kinds of post feel free to comment. Let me know what you think?
